The Siamese Collection.

Behind the Old Townhall you will find The Siamese Collection, an unusual collection of natural and cultural artefacts from Siam, the old Thailand.

The collection is created by Rasmus Havmøller (1890-1940) and his siamese wife, Nang Boon Sri.

Rasmus Havmøller was already as a young man deeply interested in nature, and part of the collection dates back to this time at the bay of Ebeltoft, where Rasmus Havmøller grew up.

From 1914 - 1933 Rasmus Havmøller was in Siam, where he worked with forest management for The East Asiatic Compagny, and the main part of the collection dates back to this time in Siam.

Rasmus Havmøller brought his collection back to Ebeltoft, as he ruturned in 1933 because of malaira.

In 1940 the collection came to Ebeltoft Museum, and Rasmus Havmøller helped displaying it.
The collection remains as it was, and therefore it is a monument of former museum exhibitions - an art chamber.

The building also houses an old danish kitchen, and exhibitons covering local history.
